FAQS
frequently asked questions

Where are you located?
I am based near Fort Collins, Colorado and serve Colorado and southern Wyoming. If you're outside of that range, there is nothing off=limits as long as time aligns!

Do you charge a travel fee?

Jenna Luna Photo will travel up to 40 miles for a photo session and up to 60 miles for a wedding or elopement. After 40/60 miles, a travel fee of $0.75 x the total number of miles from my home to the location (round-trip) will be incurred.

For destination and non-local weddings, I require the couple to pay travel fees. These travel fees can include and are not limited to: airline ticket (round-trip), baggage fees, transportation or rental car (if needed), gas, hotel and/or any other fees associated with travel. I am pretty flexible and try my best to get THE best deals on flights, so don't panic! We will work it out so that it stays within your budget.

What do we wear?

Great question! No matter if it's your engagement photos or a family session, I have your back. As soon as you book with me, I will send over a styling guide and also a link to your personal Styling Portal. I also provide a "Client Closet" which is FREE for you to use! I have carefully picked out people dresses and outfits for you to borrow from. All of this is intended for you to USE and take advantage of! I want to create an experience that is stress free and helping you with wardrobe is part of that. Wardrobe plays a huge role in how you want your photos to "feel." Keep in mine that bright or neon colors tend to distract and more neutral/earth tone colors tend to photograph best. If you have a question about what type of outfit to chose or color, I will totally help you through that process and give you my best opinion! Regardless of what outfit you decide to wear, our main goal is for you to feel 100% yourself and relaxed.

How many photos will we receive?

For my weddings, I never have a set number. It all depends on how many hours I am there. If it's a nice photo, it goes in the gallery! As far as family and engagement session, the amount of photos you will receive is listed on the "investment" page. Check it out :)

We want a destination wedding/elopement, do you offer these?
Heck yeaahh! I will travel nearly anywhere, especially for love! My passport is current + ready to be stamped! I am in love with the intimacy of a destination weddings + elopements (especially adventurous ones)! They also save money for you, compared to the costs of a traditional wedding. Let’s talk about it!

How do we book you?
I am glad you asked! So first, either head on over to the Contact Page or Book Online page and fill out some information! Once I have received your information, I will schedule a time for us meet + chat, whether in-person or by Skype/Face-Time. During our chat we will discuss what type of coverage and package you will be needing and then go from there. Once we have nailed down some specifics, I will send over an online contract with a finalized proposal for you and your fiancé to review + e-sign. For weddings I require a non-refundable retainer (retainer is 50% of your package cost) upon signing the contract. This will reserve your wedding date with me. The remaining balance is due 30 days before your wedding day. After payment is received, I will then ask you to complete a questionnaire so that I can get the details on your weddings plans. As your date draws near, I'll check in with you periodically as well as work with you on your timeline, wedding details, and family shot list.

What happens if I book you (contract signed & retainer paid) and I change my wedding date?

If for what ever reason your event date needs to be rescheduled, I will do everything in my power to work with your new date at no extra charge, as long as the new date is within 6 months of the original date. If the new date conflicts with a date already booked with LunaRae Photography, I apologize for the inconvenience but must honor bookings on a first come, first serve basis. If I am unable to re-book your event, due to conflict, retainer is non-refundable.

Should we do an engagement session with you as well?
100% YES! I believe it is so important to get to know you before your wedding day. I feel it gives us a chance to get to know each other BEFORE so that you can feel more relaxed on your day. If you book me for a full wedding collection, I offer $100-200 off an engagement session depending on which collection you chose.

When should I book my engagement session?

My suggestion is to book your engagement session 6-9 months out from your wedding date. Keep in mind if you have a lot of guests from out of state that would have to make travel arrangements (airline tickets + hotels), I would consider thinking more like 9 months out so Save the Dates are out in plenty of time for your guests to start planning their travel! If a lot of your guests are local or there aren't many that will be traveling great distances to be at your wedding, sending your Save the Dates out around the 6 month mark is perfect.

What days of the week do you normally schedule engagement sessions?

My weekends are usually full because weddings happen on the weekend so I try to schedule all my engagement sessions during the week. If for some reason that does not work with your schedule, I will do everything I can to accommodate you!

How long are engagement sessions?

My engagement sessions are untimed, unrushed and typically run anywhere from 1 - 2 hours. I allow for 1 location and as many outfit changes as you like. Keep in mind, changing outfits cuts into your engagement session time. I typically tell couples to try and stick to a max of 2 outfits if you would like to change. If you'd like to add an additional location, there is a fee of $100.00. You'll receive fully edited images approximately within 2 weeks of your session on an online gallery where you can view, share, and download the full-resolution files.

How do you protect your photos?
For peace of mind, after a wedding, all images are backed-up in two separate locations as soon as I am home. I know these memories mean the world to you, and I do all that I can to protect them.

When + how will we receive our wedding photos?
Your photos are of my utmost priority after your wedding. I value details and take the time to make each photo the best it can. Each photo is hand-edited professionally by me. Your photos are delivered within 6 weeks after wedding day. You will receive all of your images in their finished state. I give you a mixture of color and black and white photos (because some just look better that way). For weddings, all the high-resolution digital JPEG files will be delivered to you via a stunning online gallery, where you will be able to view, download, share and print until your hearts content! All images are high-resolution + watermark-free. There is no limit to the number of photographs you will receive from your wedding day. Although, I cannot guarantee a certain number of photos, as each wedding is unique and varies in length. Clients typically receive 500+ images from their wedding. I hand-pick all the best images, by getting rid of any duplicates, misfires, or images with unflattering expressions or poor lighting.

Can we share our photos on social media?
Yes, PLEASE! All I ask is that you provide a link, tag, hashtag, or credit to Jenna Luna Photo within the caption of each photo/album you upload. Please do not tag my name, just my business please! We also kindly ask that you do not crop, edit, or alter the images in any way. On Instagram, do not put any of those crazy filters on the photos. It makes me really sad when that happens. Also, no screen shots of photos please as this creates a pixelated image.

Do you provide personal printing rights?
Absolutely. This allows you to print as many photos as you want, as many times as you’d like, without restriction. I still own the copyright to the images, but you will get personal printing rights. PLEASE do not bring my images just anywhere for printing and especially avoid drug/grocery stores for printing. The colors, quality, editing and cropping is completely lost at low end bulk printers. Thank you!
Can I order Prints through you?

Yes, ABSOLUTELY and I highly encourage you to do so. Your photos will be printed at the nation’s premier print lab and look so darn pretty! A huge difference can be noticed than, say, getting your pictures printed at Costco or Walgreen’s due to elements like the paper quality, the print machine itself, and professional TLC! The best news is that prints are competitively priced, so you’ll be well taken care of and it’s easy! The prints and products will be delivered to you in less than a week!

Who designs our wedding album?

I personally design every wedding album for each and every client who orders the album option. If you order an album with your package, you will receive 15% off the album. If you chose not to order the album with your package but decide after you receive your photos you'd like no, NO PROBLEM! I can totally still make one but you just won't get the discount. Note, weddings albums do not include all your photos but a "highlight" of your wedding and I aim to "tell a story" through your album.

What is the best light to photograph in?
Natural light is always best! I shoot outdoors, and normally don't use any special lighting equipment, unless some added light is needed for a certain shot. If your wedding is inside with very little natural-light available, I will use external flashes. For weddings, I specifically suggest getting ready in a naturally-lit, bright room with very little clutter. I also highly recommend sneaking away in the hour leading up to sunset for more alone time and warmly-lit photos of just you two during golden hour (the hour before sunset). Let me help you craft a light + photo-informed wedding day timeline!

Do you take formal family portraits at weddings?
Yes. I collect all the information I need from you before the wedding day. Efficiency is important to me. I recommend no more than 12 family groupings. Family portraits are often the most exhausting part of the day for everyone. I want you and your family to enjoy the reception together as I snap candids along the way. Couples are interested in seeing more natural photos rather than posed. That is why there are not many on my site. No worries though, I do them at every wedding.

Do you really fully edit all my photos?
Yes! I edit every photo to my standards. My standards are visible here on my site and they rise with every wedding, class and session. My post production includes back up of files, culling, exposure corrections, color corrections, and color grading on the entire collection. This does NOT include editing to someone else's standards. If there are double chins (which I do try to help you during the session to not have!) or waist sizes, acne or braces that need to be altered or removed, those are prices on a per photo basis. Simple requests can start at $25 per photo then up to or over $350. Removing people and altering backgrounds are very time consuming and will be paid by the hour.

Can we have or see the unedited/RAW photos you took?
Heck no! Every photo you receive from me is in its finished state. I do not release unedited/RAW images, ever. Two reasons: 1. You probably won’t be able to use them (a lot of computers cannot read RAW files without proper software). 2. RAW files do not reflect my style and work until they are processed. Don’t worry, I will give you all the good ones and trash all the blinks and double chins.

What happens if you are ill?
It would take a lot for me to miss a wedding. Luckily, that has not happened! But if this were to happen to me, I have trustworthy photographers to cover for me. If for some reason, there is no suitable replacement photographer found, your wedding package fee would be refunded in full (including the initial non-refundable payment).

Do I have to pay sales tax for photography?

Yes, unfortunately. Taxes are not fun but they must be paid, even for photography. I wish it were different but at the end of the year, I have to pay taxes just like everyone else.

What kind of gear do you shoot with?
I use two Nikon D750 bodies (and a back-up camera body). I have high quality Nikon & Sigma lenses that make your photos OH SO DREAMY. If I had to pick a favorite, I'd say its my 85mm prime lens. I also carry with me handy-dandy OCFs (Off-Camera Flashes) and light stands incase we are in a dark situation :)
